Yakitori at its finest
Hinaikomachi (ひない小町 渋谷店). Most yakitori restaurants in Tokyo are casual places where customers consume large quantities of grilled skewers between gulps of beer, shōchū and sake. Hinaikomachi is one of the places that take yakitori to the next level. Refined flavours, attention to quality ingredients, and a comfortable restaurant make it our favourite yakitori place in Shibuya. Either sit on a cushion at the bar, get a private room, or sit at one of the Western style tables downstairs. Order some (good) sake and then prepare for chicken like you've never had before. After dinner here you'll realise you've been eating chicken wrong all your life, or more the point, the quality of the chicken you've been eating wasn't in the same league. Don't be put off by the occasional piece of chicken that is cooked rare - they use a special breed of chicken (Hinai-jidori) that is farmed and handled in a way that means there is virtually no risk of illness. In fact, this type of chicken is frequently eaten sashimi-style in Japan. Hinaikomachi is a proper yakitori restaurant and in our view, a must visit place in Shibuya.
Order a selection of chicken yakitori and don't be put off it is rare, it's supposed to be.
