Modern Japanese yakitori
Yakitori is the perfect drinking food. Skewers of grilled meat, mainly various parts of the chicken, cooked on a charcoal grill and seasoned with soy sauce or salt. Yardbird does the classic yakitori right - salty, juicy and tender - and adds a few twists with contemporary dishes like Korean fried chicken with a yuzu chilli sauce and liver mousse with crispy shallots on toast. The surroundings are casual and trendy with the main bar and entrance upstairs, and more seating and an open kitchen downstairs. Yardbird is walk in only so come early or just grab a cocktail at the bar while you wait.
The chicken meatball skewer with egg yolk is a must try, and order some more adventurous parts of the chicken like heart, liver and tail.
