Din Tai Fung
Legendary soup dumplings
Din Tai Fung is a global phenomenon in waiting. It’s actually a chain with branches throughout Asia and a couple in the U.S. and Australia. Everyone we know that has been to Din Tai Fung scratches their head in wonder as to why Europe and North America doesn’t have one in every neighbourhood. Originally from Taiwan, at the heart of Din Tai Fung’s success are Shanghai-style xiao long bao (steamed dumplings). Little goodies filled with minced pork and delicious broth, hand rolled and steamed to order. This Hong Kong branch held a Michelin star for a while, testament to just how good these pork dumplings are.
Grab at least one tray of the pork xiao long bao (soup dumplings); the braised beef hand pulled noodle soup is also very good. But I repeat, DO NOT GO PAST THE XIAO LONG BAO, amazing!
