Din Tai Fung is a global phenomenon in waiting. It’s a actually a chain with branches throughout Asia and a couple in the US and Australia. Everyone we know that has been to Din Tai Fung scratches their head in wonder as to why Europe and North America doesn’t have one in every neighbourhood. Originally from Taiwan, at the heart of Din Tai Fung’s success are Shanghai-style xiao long bao (steamed dumplings). Little soup-filled goodies, hand rolled and steamed to order. When Nick and Jane lived in Singapore, they would order ten each for brunch every other weekend. A Hong Kong branch of DTF held a Michelin star for a while, testament to just how good these pork dumplings are.
