Review: Plum Valley

Plum Valley

Even though it’s on the main street, Plum Valley is a great place to get away from the chaos of Chinatown. It’s unlike any other restaurant in this area with sleek modern interior, mood lighting, and wide leather booths. The classic dim sum were really well done, but their “innovative” dishes were a bit hit and miss. The siu mai was just as it should be - a good balance of pork and prawn flavour. However, the xiao long bao with goose foie gras was a bit disappointing - the dumpling was too big and the foie gras didn’t really stand out.

Time for food to arrive: 10 mins
Time for tea to arrive: 5 mins
Cost for 3 dishes + 1 tea: £14.30

Food Score (out of 5) = 3.3
Service Score = 3.0
Environment Score = 4.0
Overall Score = 3.4

Verdict: Our highest ranking dim sum place in Chinatown and one we’d happily return to.
