Review: Kam Tong

Kam Tong

One of many Cantonese restaurants on Queensway, Kam Tong stands out for its modern teahouse style interior and policy for banning strollers. While the restaurant is not as large as some others on the road, it’s not that small either so I found the policy a little unusual. Strollers aside, the dim sum just ok. All three dumplings (har gow, siu mai, xiao long bao) had really tasty, good quality fillings but was let down by a poor wrapper. The XLB wrapper was too thick while the har gow and siu mai wrappers were falling apart. Given the other options for dim sum you have in the Bayswater area, I would give Kam Tong a miss.

Food Score (out of 5) = 3.0
Service Score = 3.0
Environment Score = 3.5
Overall Score = 3.1

Time for food to arrive: 11 mins
Time for tea to arrive: 6 mins
Cost for 3 dishes + 1 tea: £12.00

Verdict: Let down by poor dumpling wrappers and strange no stroller policy.
