Review: Imperial China

Imperial China

Hidden away from the main streets of Chinatown, you walk over a tiny wooden bridge on top of a small fish pond to get to the multi-storey restaurant. Once inside the interior is comfortable and decorated with red lanterns, while the service is quick and efficient. And the food? The xiao long bao was passable, nice thin wrappers but not nearly enough broth. The siu mai was poor quality (bad ingredients), but surprisingly the har gow was one of the best we’ve had - translucent but firm wrapper with a flavourful prawn filling.

Time for food to arrive: 15 mins
Time for tea to arrive: 2 mins
Cost for 3 dishes + 1 tea: £12.20

Food Score (out of 5) = 3.2
Service Score = 3.0
Environment Score = 3.5
Overall Score = 3.2

Verdict: Decent place to grab some dim sum, but there are much better places in London.
